There’s something special about exploring California in an RV – those salty mornings, the freedom to roam, and the amazing places you can visit for fun, sightseeing, and creating unforgettable memories. You will surely want to add several of these sites to your RV trip planner. Here are ten places on my bucket list that I really want to visit:
- Yosemite National Park
It’s like a giant playground with huge mountains, lots of waterfalls, really big trees, and plenty of hiking and rock climbing. You may also see animals such as deer and bears. By traveling in an RV, you can camp right inside the park, waking up to beautiful views every morning.
- Big Sur
Big Sur is a magical place with towering cliffs and the ocean crashing below. There are lots of places to stop for photos, have picnics, and take strolls. This trip along the coast in your camper van is one you won’t forget.
- Sequoia National Park
Some of the largest trees in the world grow here. You’re sure to feel like a hero in a fairy tale as you stand among the tall and wide giant sequoias. There is a spacious campground where you can set up camp in your RV and explore the woods.
- Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree is like traveling to another planet with its unique rock formations and quirky, fun Joshua trees. This is a great place to go stargazing because the night sky is very clear. You will love the peaceful desert beauty while camping in your van.
- Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is a large, gorgeous lake surrounded by mountains where you can swim, go boating, or just relax on the beach. Several campsites around it allow you to enjoy both the water and the forest at the same time.
- Napa Valley
If you like beautiful vineyards and good food, Napa Valley is for you. Best known for its wine, it has some truly beautiful towns and scenic roads. Camping in your van provides a convenient base from which to explore the area.
- Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz is a vibrant beach town with an iconic boardwalk, great surf spots, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Park your RV at a nearby campground and spend your days playing in the ocean and enjoying the beautiful weather.
- Death Valley National Park
Death Valley is one of the hottest places on Earth, but it is also incredibly beautiful, with colorful rocks, salt flats, and sand dunes. This is a place of extremes. Camp in your van to explore without getting too hot or cold, and head outside during the cooler parts of the day.
- Redwood National and State Parks
These parks have the tallest trees on Earth, and walking among the redwoods feels like being in a fairy tale. It feels like an ancient forest. There are plenty of campgrounds where you can park your RV and wander among the giant trees and lush landscapes.
- Malibu
Malibu has some of the best beaches in California where you can surf, swim, or just lay on the sand. There are excellent hiking trails in the surrounding hills. Explore beach life to the fullest by camping your van and enjoying sunsets over the ocean in style.
